PERU ECOCAMP

Peru Ecocamp
Based in the heart of the Andes, Peru Ecocamp offers the region’s first sustainable luxury glamping experience at four locations along the Salkantay Trail trekking route between Cusco and Machu Picchu in the Vilcabamba mountain range.

Peru Ecocamp’s overnight tours range from two to nine days. Led by veteran guides, these adventures along the Salkantay Trail bring you into close contact with Andean culture while sighting condors, hiking along glacial lakes, visiting picturesque villages and exploring ancient Inca citadels like Machu Picchu.

The trips also include gourmet menus designed for the altitude of each Ecocamp and other eco-friendly activities like yoga, horseback riding and cooking classes.

Overnights are in roomy, modern geodesic domes (300 square feet) with king-size bed or twin beds, private bathroom (toilet, sink and hydro-massage shower), wood-burning stove and enough blankets to keep you warm. Drinks and meals — typical Andean dishes prepared with fresh, local organic ingredients — are served in the dining dome or a lobby/bar dome.

For those short on time, Peru Ecocamp also offers single-day adventures like condor viewing, Humantay glacial lake, Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) and the Choquechurco archeological sites.

The four camps include:

Pincopata
Using green technology, this Ecocamp offers the area’s first 100% sustainable camping experience. The camp boasts beautiful green lawns and plenty of local flowers planted across the whole area.

Soray
A 45-minute drive or day trek from Pincopata, Soray overlooks the Sacred Humantay and Salkantay mountains. Due to the higher altitude and cooler temperatures, the environment is very different to Pincopata and it offers wonderful views to the snowcapped peaks.

Humantay
The highest and most remote Ecocamp sits at 3,900 meters/12,792 feet. Despite its more adventurous feel, Humantay offers hot showers, cozy beds and great food tailored to this elevation, as well as thicker blankets and hot water bottles at night to keep trekkers nice and warm.

Milpo
Because this camp is set along an exclusive route between Huayra and Milpo, Eurocamp trekkers  will not meet any other travelers along the way. The camp is located in the cloud forest with endemic orchid species right amongst the domes. A peaceful and tranquil area, where the only sound comes from the river in the valley below.

Founded in 2016 by Raul Montes, EcoCamp is based on a philosophy of socially responsible trekking for upscale travelers built around sustainable, eco-friendly development that creates skills and jobs for communities in the Peruvian Andes.
