Cheli & Peacock Safaris Tanzania Travel Update, September 19th

The Government of Tanzania has issued updated travel requirements that come into effect from the 19th of September 2021.
Please take note of the travel updates below:
TANZANIA
- All arriving travellers, aged 6 years and older, entering the United Republic of Tanzania are required to present a negative Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test or Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAATs) carried out at a nationally accredited/ approved laboratory within 96 hours before departure to Tanzania;
- Children aged under 6 years are not required to present a negative Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test or Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAATs) on arrival and are not required to carry out a Rapid Test on arrival.
- All travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania are required to complete a Traveller Health Surveillance Form via https://afyamsafiri.moh.
go.tz/ for the Tanzanian mainland and https://healthtravelznz.mohz. go.tz for Zanzibar within 24 hours before arrival in Tanzania. Travellers will receive a confirmation code, including a Unique Health Code, to be presented during primary screening upon arrival in Tanzania; - All arriving travellers, aged 6 years and older, entering the United Republic of Tanzania from the following countries, or those who have travelled to the following countries in the last 14 days regardless of the route taken, will be required to undergo a Rapid Test on arrival, the cost of which is USD 10 per person per test for the Tanzanian mainland and USD 25 per person per test for Zanzibar. These countries are the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, France, India, Malawi, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States of America, Rwanda, and South Africa;
- All travellers who require a Rapid Test on arrival are advised to pay for the Rapid Test prior to arrival in Tanzania, to avoid any delay on arrival. Travellers arriving on the Tanzanian mainland can do so using an automatically generated control number received after completing the Traveller Surveillance Form via https://afyamsafiri.
moh.go.tz/. Travellers arriving in Zanzibar can do so via https:// zanzibarcovidtesting.co.tz/ ; - Travellers who receive positive results on their Rapid Tests will be allowed to self-isolate at a location of their choice for a period of 14 days or more until they test negative on a Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test;
- All travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania will undergo temperature screening upon arrival and must complete a Health Declaration form to be submitted upon entry;
- Upon arrival, all travellers will be provided with health information cards with toll-free numbers and advised to self-monitor themselves for symptoms and signs. In the case that the traveller develops COVID-19, they will be tested and treated at designated health facilities at their own cost;
- Requirements for travellers departing Tanzania will be in line with the requirements issued by the travellers’ respective airline or destination country. COVID-19 PCR testing is currently available when requested to be organised by Cheli & Peacock Safaris as follows (inclusive of local taxes and facilitation fees);
- Arusha (Results received between 48 – 72 hours from sample collection) medical facility COVID-19 testing at a cost of $60 per person per test;
- Dar es Salaam (Results received between 24 – 48 hours from sample collection) medical facility COVID-19 testing at a cost of $60 per person per test;
- Karatu (Results received between 48 – 72 hours from sample collection) medical facility COVID-19 testing at a cost of $60 per person per test and $15 per person per test (payable directly for the medical act);
- Serengeti Kogatende (Results received between 48 hours from sample collection) at a cost of $75 per person per test. Sample collection is carried out daily between 8 am and 10 am. (availability depending on the guest’s location and logistics);
- Serengeti Seronera (Results received between 48 – 72 hours from sample collection) at a cost of $75 per person per test. Sample collection is carried out daily between 8 am and 10 am. (availability depending on the guest’s location and logistics); or
- Zanzibar (Results received between 48 – 72 hours from sample collection) medical facility and mobile facility COVID-19 testing at a cost of $150 per person per test.
- Please note that the current government advice is for travellers to undergo COVID-19 testing a minimum of 5 days prior to departure (depending on the specific airline and destination country requirements) to ensure adequate time is allowed for test results to be received;
- Face masks are to be worn by all people at all times in public places; and
- Social distancing of 1.5m apart is required at all times.
