Chimps Ahoy!
February 21, 2017 - 1 minute readOnce again pushing the outer edge of the safari envelope, Cheli & Peacock has created an enticing East African wildlife experience called Gnus and Chimps.
The seven-night flying safari revolves around two of Tanzania’s greatest wildlife treasures — the wildebeest (gnu) migration across the Serengeti Plains and the chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains National Park on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
The adventure kicks off at Serengeti Safari Camp. The first of its kind, this mobile camp moves along with the wildebeest migration, setting up overnight camps in the best locations to view one of the great spectacles of nature from your canvas “doorstep.”
After three nights in the Serengeti, guests fly down to the Kigoma Region and boat across a section of Lake Tanganyika to Greystoke Mahale Lodge. With around 1,600 chimps, Mahale Mountain National Park is one of the best places in Africa for close encounters of the simian kind. Other activities include swimming, kayaking, fishing and lazing on the lodge’s sandy beach.
