East Africa Visa Tips

August 23, 2017 - 1 minute read

News from Alpha Travel for anyone who’s thinking of traveling to multiple countries on their upcoming safari and applying for an East Africa Tourist Visa.

If your clients are applying in advance, the application must be submitted to the country (Kenya, Uganda or Rwanda) where they are first arriving/landing. For example, if they apply with Kenyan Immigration and arrive first in Rwanda, they will be refused entry.

East Africa Tourist Visas are not valid in Tanzania (which has yet to join this portion of the East African Community). It should also be pointed out that the visa expires upon entry into Tanzania. So if your clients are planning to visit Tanzania in the middle of an itinerary, they should obtain separate visas for each country and not the East Africa Tourist Visa.

Travelers visiting Rwanda first can apply for this visa (https://irembo.gov.rw/rolportal/home). Travelers visiting Uganda first can apply for this visa  (https://visas.immigration.go.ug/).

At the moment, Kenya  does not offer online applications for the East African visa.
