Enchanted Galapagos Lodge Reopens!
April 21, 2022 - 2 minutes readEnchanted Galapagos Lodge on Santa Cruz Island is ready to receive guests again after two years of renovations and significant improvements to the guest rooms and common areas.
The 10 standard and superior rooms (all air conditioned) now feature private decks and refurbished bathrooms, while the lodge has added a spa room and totally revamped the salon and reception areas.
Guests can now look forward to fresh-from-the-farm coffee, harvesting from the lodge’s own plants, as well as world-class mature cheeses made at the onsite cheese factory “El Queso Chueco“, which is open for visits and tastings. Guests can also try their hand at making chocolate with cacao grown on the property.
Another added attraction is visits and demonstrations from local woodcarvers, farmers, and a rum maker. Bikes are available for cruising the island’s country roads or forays into the town of Puerto Ayora to sample a craft beer at a local brewery, watch sealions and pelicans hanging out at the fish market (waiting for scraps), shopping handicraft stores, or visiting the giant tortoise reserve, beaches or lava tunnels.
Meanwhile, lodge founder Judy Carvalhal and her partners have planted about 200 native trees in the area, part of a project to reintroduce more endemic plants.
Located in the lush highlands, the boutique lodge offers an ideal base for exploring Santa Cruz Island on day trips or hanging out before or after a Galapagos cruise with Enchanted Expeditions. In addition to the new spa room, the lodge also boasts an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and large open-air lounge areas.
