The Future Takes Shape for Australis

April 12, 2016 - 1 minute read

Construction is underway on the new Australis expedition vessel in Valdivia, Chile. The new ship — which is expected to join the fleet during the final trimester of 2017 — will have a similar hull design and the same number of cabins and decks as the Stella Australis. It will boast all the amenities and world-class service that Australis already brings to the waters of Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.

The new 210-passenger ship will take the place of Via Australis, which will soon take up new duties in the Galapagos Islands. As the new vessel takes shape, the Stella Australis will operate solo in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego during the 2016/2017 season. But we won’t miss a beat — all of our 3, 4 and 7-night itineraries through the spectacular region will take place aboard the Stella until the new ship is launched and commissioned.
