Vaccination process in the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador
June 2, 2021 - 1 minute readWe are happy to announce that the vaccination process in the Galapagos Islands goes on as planned and the final goal is being reached.
As of now, the majority of the Galapagos adult population has received their 2nd dose of the COVID19 vaccine and arrangements are being made for the younger population under 18 years old to start receiving their first shot soon.
The tour business is steadily recovering with growing numbers of tourists taking advantage of reduced rates and flexible booking and cancellation policies.
Bookings on our first-class boats Beluga and Cachalote Explorer as well as our Enchanted Galapagos Lodge are also starting to look more promising for the second half of this year.
On mainland Ecuador, the vaccine rollout is moving along a little more slowly. The top priority groups are being vaccinated now and we expect that mass vaccination programmes will be carried out after June or July 2021 based on availability of vaccines.
The newly instated Ecuadorian president during his election campaign pledged to include the majority of Ecuador’s adult population in the vaccination plan within the first 3 months from the beginning of his term.
In the meantime, the country borders remain open for tourists who arrive with a negative COVID19 RT-PCR test.

We will be more happy to share any additional information with you.
