Opened in June, Anantara’s Tented Camp Kafue River lies in the heart of Zambia’s untouched wilderness within the vast expanse of Kafue National Park. A safari experience like no other, Anantara’s first-ever luxury tented camp is an intimate and luxurious African wilderness retreat.
Carefully designed for minimal environmental impact and maximum luxury, the camp’s 13 guest units include Pool Villas, Horizon Terrace Suites and a grand 6,468-square-foot (600-square-meter) Presidential Villa. Each villa is equipped with a private spa treatment room, as well as a personal chef, butler and game drive guide.
Nestled between two islands, the camp features a swimming pool and floating gym, restaurant and bar, lounge area and a traditional African boma, all surrounded by the wild beauty of the African bush. By October, the camp will have its own airstrip.
Anantara Kafue River embodies a commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. From eco-friendly construction (structures are set a dozen feet above ground level for minimal impact) to a strong focus on local culture, the camp is more than just a getaway — it’s a celebration of Zambia’s rich heritage and pristine natural world.
Besides game drives, Anantara Kafue River will offer walking safaris and river boating experiences, as well as bird watching excursions and fishing.
Founded in the 1950s, Kafue National Park offers diverse habitats including miombo woodland, wetlands, and grasslands. Zambia’s oldest and largest national park boasts sizable elephant and lion populations, as well as 21 antelope species and more than 500 different types of birds.
