Garonga believes in safari for the soul. A stay at their camps shouldn’t just be about exciting things to see. You should leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and revitalized. And one of the ways to achieve that is stepping down from the safari vehicle and experiencing the wild on foot.

A walking safari is an extraordinary experience. An awareness that you are moving around on foot in an area that is home to the Big Five definitely heightens your senses, while the scents and sounds of the bush come into sharper focus.

One inescapable truth is that humans are not quiet creatures. Even trying to move unobtrusively through the bush, it’s shocking how much noise we actually make. Especially compared to the masters of silent movement — elephants. It’s incredible how nature’s gentle giants move so quietly through their world.

During bush walks you’re introduced to the world of animal tracks and signs, and traditional medicinal uses of the local plants. You might even have the chance to trail one of the Big Five.

In addition to regular bush walks, Garonga offers three specialized adventures — a cultural walk, solitude walk, and survival skills walk — that immerse you in the wild experience in very specific ways.
