December 26, 2020 - 4 minutes read“Breathtaking scenery from approach to finish,” says AllTrails.com, the planet’s foremost hiking website. “Great accommodations as well. Overall one of the world’s great (hikes).”
“Home to some of the world’s most dramatic and pristine mountain landscapes,” writes Green Global. “A delight to explore on foot. And all the cute guanacos you’ll encounter along the way!
“One of the most famous multi-day hikes on the planet: The Towers, The Horns, French Valley and finally Grey Glacier,” boasts Hello Patagonia.
If you haven’t already guessed, they’re all boasting about the “W” Trail in Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park.
Anyone into South American nature or hiking already knows the legendary “W” is one of a handful of treks that you must do at least once in your life.
Las Torres Reserve offers four different ways to undertake the trek depending on what type of experience and accommodation you’re looking for.
1. W Circuit: 5 days/4 nights
With the option of camping, mountain shelter, and/or upgrades to a private hotel room and cabin.
This option allows calls for relaxation on the first day and visiting places of interest around the national park’s Central Sector before starting your trek. You can do this program self-guided, accompanied by a private professional guide or with a guided group. This option also has a “limited version” which includes all accommodation, breakfasts, roundtrip bus transportation and a lake catamaran cruise on the last day.
2. W Express: 4 days/3 nights
With the option of camping, mountain shelter, and/or upgrades to a private hotel room and cabin.
A perfect option if you don’t have much time, the W Express trek starts early on the first day. Once again, you can do this program self-guided, accompanied by a private professional guide or joining a guided group. And it offers the special “limited version” that covers all accommodation, breakfasts, roundtrip bus transportation and a boat trip on the last day.
3. W on Wheels (Bubble Experience): 4 days/3 nights
As the name suggests, trekkers are transported by vehicle to trailheads for each of the main sections of the W Circuit. As a bubble experience, it’s offered only in camping mode and without a guide, an option that offers both privacy and total autonomy to enjoy your exploration of Torres del Paine.
4. Private W (Bubble Experience): 4 days/3 nights
With transportation via private van, this option offers the most exclusive way of undertaking the circuit. As a bubble experience, trekkers can opt for accommodation only in camping mode or increase their comfort level with one night of camping, one night at Hotel Las Torres and one night in a private cabin. This program is offered only in the self-guided mode.
Notes:
• These options include all meals during the trek and upon arrival at the overnight spots.
• Accommodation in camping mode includes tent, sleeping bag, mat and sheet (liner).
• Accommodation in refuge mode includes a reinforced bed (blanket or jacket included) in a shared room.
• Accommodations in private rooms can be at Hotel Las Torres or private cabins.
