The Irish Times in Dublin recently ran a story on cooperation between local herders and conservation managers at Loisaba Conservancy in north-central Kenya, a project the newspaper called a model of sustainability.

Quotable quote: “The 56,000-acre Loisaba Conservancy in central Kenya is being managed sustainably to conserve wildlife habitats and benefit local communities through jobs in ecotourism, improved schools, healthcare clinics and managed grazing access. Loisaba is home to a large elephant population, a stable lion population and an abundance of other wildlife. The conservancy employs about 200 people from local communities in jobs such as ecotourism and ranching.”
