The Denver Post newspaper recently ran a photo story on the Viracocha III reed raft expedition, which is preparing to depart from Arica in northern Chile on a cross-Pacific journey that will take it 10.000 nautical miles to Sydney, Australia where it is due to arrive about six months later.

Quotable quote: “U.S. biologist Phil Buck — the man behind the project — aims to demonstrate the ancestral migration between the two continents and reevaluate the indigenous culture that inhabited the villages surrounding the Titicaca Lake — which Bolivia and Peru share — at 3,800 meters above sea level.”
