Uganda is set to make history alongside Kenya and Tanzania as a co-host of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, the continent’s premier soccer tournament.
This milestone positions Uganda at the heart of African football, showcasing the nation’s growing capacity to host major international events while spotlighting its culture, people and tourism offerings to a global audience.
Players will take the field between June 19th and July 17th next year including many of the national teams and soccer stars that appeared in the recent FIFA World Cup.
Three Ugandan cities will be hosting matches including Hoima, Lira and national capital Kampala. The first two cities are building brand new stadiums for the event, while Mandela National Stadium in Kampala is undergoing a major upgrade and renovation.
