Zingweni Vlei

Located in wildlife-rich Hwange National Park in northwest Zimbabwe, Zingweni Vlei blends handcrafted luxury with authentic African charm. Designed to evoke the timeless romance of vintage safaris, the camp offers a tranquil escape from the noise and distractions of the modern world.

Part of the Run Wild African Safaris portfolio, the camp features four meticulously designed tented suites, each of them a sanctuary beneath shady teak and umtshibi trees. Spacious and airy, the tents are adorned with bespoke furniture crafted from teakwood, complemented by carpeted floors and white denim-lined walls. Thoughtfully curated linens, earthy tones and artisanal touches immerse guests in the wild beauty of the bush while maintaining unparalleled comfort.

Every element of Zingweni Vlei reflects a commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship. From hand-welded, custom-designed light fixtures to large windows that invite the sights and sounds of the bush, no detail has been overlooked. The ensuite bathrooms combine elegance with functionality, ensuring your stay is both refreshing and luxurious.

The lounge and dining area open onto a wooden deck overlooking the outdoor fireplace area. A rooftop wildlife viewing deck offers an elevated perspective of the Hwange landscape. Situated within the territory of the Zingweni Lion Pride and beside a stream, the camp attracts large elephant herds and diverse wildlife, creating unforgettable safari moments.

The camp’s name reflects its prime location in an open area with a good water source (vlei), in this case the Zingweni stream. Marshy vleis and intermittently watered pans are typical Hwange National Park landscapes. First established in 1928 and one of Africa’s oldest wildlife preserves, Hwange boasts more than 4000 bird and 100 mammal species, including rare animals like the brown hyena, cape wild dogs, and gemsbok antelope. In addition, the park is close enough for days trips to Victoria Falls.

Part of the Run Wild African Safaris portfolio, the camp counts Zimbabwe Olympic sprinter Arnold Payne among its investors.
