Dr. GladysHailed as one of the most intimate wildlife experiences on the planet, Adventure Consults  “Intimate Gorilla Experience” gives travelers a chance to track gorillas and learn more about the gentle giants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with legendary primatologist and conservationist Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka.
 
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on Uganda’s southern border is home to more than half the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas, and it’s where Dr. Gladys goes to work. As Uganda’s equivalent of Dian Fossey, she’s been studying the primates for more than 16 years and is partnering with Adventure Consults to provide special tours aimed at providing unique and in-depth gorilla encounters that also feature insights into her research. 
 
Tracking gorillas is a small fraction of Dr. Gladys’ daily routine. Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH), her nonprofit, reaches out to the people who live in and around Bwindi, educating and ensuring them that healthy gorillas mean a better way of life for them too. CTPH also advocates that instead of hunting gorillas and clearing the forest, keeping them safe generates more local income from tourism.
