Artsy Lastarria
May 8, 2017 - 1 minute readBoth the Lastarria Boutique and the Luciano K Hotel hotels are located in Santiago’s funky Lastarria district. And part of the neighborhood bohemian chic is a multitude of venues for various types of art. A number of museums and galleries are located within a short walking distance of both hotels including:
Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes: The national museum of fine art features works by both European masters and Chile’s leading artists.
Museo de Arte Contemporaneo: Paintings, sculptures, sketches, videos, photographs, mixed media and experimental artworks by many of South America’s 20th century masters.
Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM): After the downfall of Pinochet and his junta, Chileans transformed the headquarters of the Defense Ministry into an eclectic cultural center for art, music, dance, theater and comedy.
Galeria Bech: Innovative projects of young Chilean artists is the forte of this edgy little cultural center sponsored by Chile’s state bank.
Museo de Artes Visuales: Even if you’re not into the offbeat modern art displayed at MAVI, the admission price also includes entry into the adjacent Santia Archeological Museum (MAS) which displays more than 3,000 artifacts related to Chile’s various indigenous cultures.
