A family-run business based in Torres del Paine and part of the Reserva Cerro Paine, Fantastico Sur specializes in trekking programs and camping/cabin stays in the legendary Chilean national park. The company operates a network of refugios and camps along the famous “W” hiking circuit around the Torres del Paine mountains.

Fantastico Sur’s trekking options range from scheduled all-inclusive guided programs to outfitting hikers who want to guide themselves and prepare their own food at the camps and refugios. The company also operates restaurants at each refugios, as well as a national park store that specializes in trekking equipment, food and maps.

El Chileno Refugio & Camping Las Torres

A two-hour walk from Las Torres, this refugio is on the trail that leads to the famous Base of the Towers viewpoint. We strongly recommend a pre-dawn departure if climbing to the Base so you won’t miss the spectacle of the sunrise on the granite towers. From this location you can return to Las Torres or continue to Los Cuernos.

Refugio (dormitory) at El Chileno:

  • Accommodation: Bed + Sleeping Bag or Simple Bed (own sleeping bag).
  • Capacity: 32 people, four shared and mixed dorms of eight people each (three bunk beds in each room).
  • Facilities: Restaurant/shop.
  • Heating: wood, slow-burning stove.
  • Shared bathrooms (exclusively for refugio guests).Camping at El Chileno:
  • 50 campsites.
  • Shared bathrooms (exclusively for campers; 24-hour hot-water).
  • Equipment rental: Tents, sleeping bags and insulation mats.
El Chileno Refugio & Camping Las Torres

Located about a 4.5 hour trek from Las Torres, Los Cuernos lies in the heart of the “W” Circuit and is generally the second or third night of our suggested trekking program before continuing to French Valley.

Los Cuernos mountain camp is an excellent jumping off point for hiking up to French Valley. With its natural amphitheater created by its surrounding granite cliffs, the valley offers one of the best views of the park.

Refugio (dormitory) at Los Cuernos:

  • Accommodation: Made Up Bed
  • Capacity: 32 people; four shared-mixed dorms for eight people each (three bunk beds in each room).
  • Facilities: Restaurant/shop.
  • Heating: wood.
  • Shared Bathrooms (exclusively for refugio guests).

Camping at Los Cuernos:

  •  80 people. OR CAMPSITES?
  • Shared bathrooms (exclusively for campers; 24-hour hot water).
  • Equipment rental: Tents, sleeping bags and insulation mats.
  • Full Board or meals available in the refugio dining hall. WHICH IS IT?

Cabins Cuernos:

The cabins have a spectacular view of Los Cuernos and Nordenskjöld Lake. The privacy offered by these double cabins offers the perfect place to rest up for the remainder of your challenge.

  • Eight double cabins with Made-Up Bed (twin beds).
  • Shared bathrooms (exclusively for cabin guests).
  • Meals are served in the refugio dining hall.
El Chileno Refugio & Camping Las Torres

Fantastico Sur’s operations base and the most popular starting point of the “W” Circuit, Torre Central and Torre Norte mountain camps are located near the Hotel Las Torres Patagonia at the end of the unpaved road from the park entrance at Portería Laguna Amarga. Shuttle buses for trekkers run between Las Torres and the park entrance.

Refugio  (dormitory) at Torre Central:

  • Accommodation: Made-Up Bed
  • Capacity: 60 people; 10 shared-mixed dorms for six people each (three bunk beds in each room).
  • Facilities: Lounge/restaurant/bar/shop.
  • Central Heating.

Refugio (dormitory) Torre Norte:

Located 100 meters (100 yards) from Refugio Torre Central.

  • Accommodation: Made-Up Bed
  • Capacity: 60 people; 10 shared–mixed dorms for six people each (three bunk beds in each room).
  • Facilities: Lounge.
  • Heating: Slow-burning wood stoves.
  • Shared Bathrooms.

Camping at Los Torres:

Located 250 meters (250 yards) from Refugio Torre Central.

Camping Serón Las Torres

Accessed via a four-hour trek from Las Torres, Serón is in the eastern side of the national park and the Paine Massif at the start of the Big “O” Circuit.

  • Shared Bathrooms.
  • Rent equipment: Tents, sleeping bags and insulation mats.
  • Meals available at the Post (Puesto).
