Up Close and Very Personal With Chimps & Gorillas

What’s even more awesome than a gorilla or chimpanzee tracking safari in Uganda? An experiential primate habituation experience that features the step-by-step processes that national park staff go through to ensure these amazing animals get used to people.

Adventure Consults has been offering experiential encounters for close to two decades. As part of their bespoke safari experiences, they have ventured into trips that involve wildlife research and opportunities for travelers to understand the health and other aspects of conservation that impact animal survival.

Adventurous travelers who sign up for the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX) accompany researchers into the field to observe activities that are part of making chimps get used to being around people. The advantage of CHEX over the ordinary chimp tracking is much more more time with the playful primates. You follow and observe them for about six hours after encountering the group.

The Gorilla Habituation Experience is limited to four guests per day, an added benefit to any primate enthusiast and photographers. Unlike ordinary gorilla tracking where you spend one hour with the animals after finding them, the habituation experience spans four hours.
