He came, he saw, he didn’t quite conquer. That would be comedy superstar Will Ferrell, who plays an Icelander set on winning the Eurovision Song Contest in his latest movie.

Scheduled to debut on Netflix on June 26th, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga follows the exploits of pop duo Lars Erickssong (Ferrel) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams) as they venture out from their home in Iceland on a quest to win the world’s most celebrated song fest.

But fans don’t have to wait for “Volcano Man.” The first song from the movie’s sound track was just dropped by Arista Records. You can catch the music video on YouTube or download/streaming at Amazon Music.

The little ditty is performed by Ferrell and My Marianne (a.k.a. Swedish singer Molly Sandén, who represented her country at the junior version of Eurovision in 2006), with McAdams as backup.

The music video and major scenes from the movie were shot in and around Húsavík on Iceland’s north coast.

Húsavík is already well know to anyone who’s traveled in Iceland, a popular port-of-call on the “Best of Iceland” and “Iceland Circumnavigation” cruise itineraries of Iceland ProCruises.

McAdams says the on-location filming near Húsavík was nearly interpreted by real volcanic activity, before moving on to shoot the Eurovision Contest scenes on a sound stage in England.

The movie also stars Pierce Brosnan, singer Demi Lovato, celebrated talk-show host Graham Norton and Icelandic stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (“Trapped” and NOS4A2″, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (“Fortitude”), Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir (“Trapped” and “The Valhalla Murders”) and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (“Game of Thrones”).

Meanwhile, the real Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to take place in Rotterdam this year, has been cancelled because of the global pandemic.

First staged in 1956, the contest draws an estimated 180 million viewers each year to its live television broadcasts and has launched the careers of ABBA and Celine Dion among others.

“Volcano Man” Lyrics

By Will Ferrell and Molly Sandén

Woke up at night
I heard floating chords
They guided me
To the highland fjords
Above the clouds
On a mountain peak
There he sat
And he began to speak

Volcano Man
He’s got my melting heart
Volcanic Protector Man
A timeless hero must love too
Volcano Man (Volcano Man)
Guarding the land (Such a man)
Volcanic Protector Man
A timeless hero must love too

And I love you.
